How to fix TV after a scratch?

Today I was attaching my DVD player to my TV. I put on the shelf above the TV. While I was attaching the wires the DVD player slipped and left a deep scratch on my TV. (Luckily the wire caught it so it didn't break the glass). Now when I turn on the TV the pixels behind the scratch look white. I am really mad because I have never even gotten a hairline scratch before and now I have a huge scratch. I already used the eraser and Vaseline trick which seemed to reduce the scratch while the TV is off, but I still need to know how to fix the TV pixels. Please help! I appreciate it.
