Dog's eyes appear sunken in?

I took my elderly choc lab to the vet last week.. complete blood and urine tests showed reduced kidney and liver function. - No diet change yet. This week, his eyes look so sunken in. Does anyone know it that would be related to the kidney/ liver issues.. or more likely to be allergies?
