Are there any fault lines that run between Gibraltar and Africa?

If yes, could the Mediterranean Sea once have been dry land or nearly dry land. Could an earth quake have opened a channel to the " Mediterranean Valley" and waters from the Atlantic Ocean then flooded that area. This could in-part explain the biblical flood story..... I have heard of a number of sunken cities being found on the floor of the Mediterranean, how did they get there?
