What do sunken cheeks (after extractions) look like?

I had my two lower right & left first molars, upper left 2nd premolar and upper right 1st premolar extracted. ive heard you can get sunken cheeks after extractions...why is this so? i cant tell if my cheeks are sunken in...what are the signs?
